Letter From The Pastor
Greetings in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
Thank you for taking the time to visit us! On behalf of our Board of Trustees, our membership, my lovely wife Janet and myself we bid you welcome!
The Upper Room Church continues to grow and enjoy great success! The Upper Room or Upper Chamber was significant during the days of Jesus. There were many great things that happened in the Upper Room. According to Mark Chapter 14, the Upper Room was chosen by Jesus as the place for His last supper with the disciples. The Upper Room was also highlighted in Acts 1:13 as the place where the church was filled with the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Upper Room remains significant in ministry even today. The Upper Room Church is a compassionate ministry, built on Matt. 25:40 where Jesus is quoted as saying, “Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.”
Compassion is one of God’s greatest attributes. Compassion is a characteristic expected of believers. It is through compassion that God has provided forgiveness and salvation. We are extremely excited about the unlimited possibilities we have in this ministry. Our mission is simply, “help somebody else!” The question is asked “help somebody else to do what?” Our answer – to know the ways of Christ. To live as He lived. To love as He loved.
Continue to pray for the Upper Room Church that we will remain faithful stewards and fulfill our obligation as a ministry here in the city of Memphis. We understand that it is our responsibility as believers to seek the good of others. We will continue to take care of the poor, the orphans, the widows, the sick, and those who are imprisoned in our communities.
We invite you and your family to take advantage of the worship opportunities listed on our Home page. Again, thank you for visiting us. Remember – Help somebody else!
With Love,
Elder Marshall B. Butler
Pastor
