About The Ministry
It is our prayer that the Upper Room Church will help develop and nurture an intimate relationship with God and form healthy spiritual, uplifting connections with others. The Upper Room Church located in Memphis, TN is a "compassionate ministry". Founded in October 2000, Pastor Butler felt the call of God to go into the highways and hedges of Binghampton to declare the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After being invited to the then Red Oaks housing projects to hold weekly Bible Studies, Pastor Butler began to build fruitful relationships with the residence in the complex. The weekly Bible Studies grew at a rapid pace. We began to hold 8:00 am service in the office of Betty Boone of the Neighborhood Christian Center. We met in the living room of the apartment/satellite office; hence "the Upper Room Church" was born! After much prayer and consideration, the desire to pastor grew even more. With godly counsel from Dr. Lee Ward of the Greater Harvest Church of God In Christ, and other men of God, Pastor Butler stepped out on faith. Armed with faith and trust in God. We are grateful to have answered the call of the Holy Spirit and believe God to do great things for our ministry. The Upper Room is built on Matthew 25:40 were Jesus is quoted as saying; "Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me." The Upper Room Church is celebrating 10 years of ministry and will continue to provide sound biblical doctrine, while winning souls for the kingdom. We are a non-denominational ministry.
